Dragon Ball Regeneration

Welcome to the Dragonball Regeneration guide. This section gives a quick look at the characters in Dragonball/Z/GT that use a regeneration ability. You will also find a quick definition of what regeneration means in Dragonball.
| Throughout the series, many of the characters have harnessed the power of REGENERATION. Regeneration is the ability to to grow back arms, legs, or other parts of the body that have been severed. The series runs across many characters that use this ability. This can save, or doom the day. | |
| Namekkian | |

The first instance of regeneration is seen in Dragonball Z. After Goku and Piccolo's epic battle with Raditz, Goku is dead, and Piccolo is battle ravaged; he has no left arm. Piccolo shocks the crowd when, after a large amount of concentrating, his arm suddenly appears good as new! This type of regeneration is possessed by the whole Namek race. It is genetic, not acquired, and consumes very little power to pull off. It is seen again when Nail, a fellow Namek wounded by Frieza, regrows his arms as well. |

| Saiya-jin | |

The Saiya-jins also have a form of regeneration. When a Saiya-jin is severely beaten in a battle, then recovers, he becomes even stronger after the recovery. FOR EXAMPLE: When Vegeta fought with the transformed Zarbon on Planet Namek the first time, Vegeta was almost killed. Due to Frieza's command, Vegeta's limp body was recovered and brought back to Frieza's ship. There, Vegeta was healed in a Recovery Tank. After he was completely healed, Vegeta had no trouble taking out Zarbon during their second fight. |

| Cell | |

The infamous Cell. The being that is made from the very cells that make up the Z fighters, plus Frieza and King Kold. Even Piccolo's cells reside in Cell's structure. Good news for Cell, bad for our heroes. As you can guess, being made from some of Piccolo's cells, Cell shares Piccolo's gift of regeneration. Cell uses this in a number of situations:

| Buu | |
![]() |
Majin Buu; Bibidee's evil creation. Majin Buu was perhaps the perfect organism. He could regenerate instantaneously from any form of dismemberment, could emulate other fighter's fighting techniques, and could absorb other fighters into his essence. Majin Buu's regeneration ability almost mirrored Cell's. Majin Buu could regenerate any body part after it had been severed. |

| Recovery Tank | |

The Recovery Tank is used a lot throughout Dragonball Z. This form of regeneration is different from the rest. This is NOT biological regeneration (regenerating by yourself), but is technological regneration (regenerating yourself with the help of machines). In order to regenerate your health and strength in the recovery tank, you must be submersed in a liquid for a certain amount of time (depending on how bad your wounds are). The liquid that surrounds the body is actually DNA that is aborbed through the skin. This helps your wounds heal at a rappid rate. The Recovery Tank has been used by the following:

| Senzu Bean | |

The Senzu beans are another form of non-biological regeneration. These magical beans have the uncanny ability to regenerate lost strength, or power almost instantly! These beans have been used by the Z team on MANY occasions to recover their lost strength and bring back nearly dead allies to full power. These beans are grown and kept by Korin. He locks them away in his tower for safe keeping. This proves as quite a hinderance throughout the series; someone always has to fly there just to get some. |
