Heaven
Heirarchy:
This section is a complete guide to the gods and you'll find things like the difference between a Kaio and Kaioshin.
Kaioshin (Supreme god):
The Kaioshin are the supreme god's of the universe. There were 5 Kaioshin in total: 1 Dai Kaioshin who was in charge of 4 lower Kaioshin. Each lower Kaioshin ruled a hemispheric section of the universe, and watched over them from Heaven. A Kaioshin's lifespan is thousand's of years long. East Kaioshin and Rou Dai Kaioshin (the Dai Kaioshin from 15 generations back) are the only ones to appear in the manga. They both reside on Kaioshin Kai.
Kaio (Higher god):
There are 5 Kaio's for each hemispheric section of the universe. Just like the Kaioshin, there is a Dai Kaio and 4 lesser Kaio's under him. The Kaio's have very little power themselves, but can train a warrior to be very powerful. After the Cell Saga, they held a tournament to see who was the better trainer.
Kami (Lower god):
A Kami is a god of a single planet. They are in charge of watching over that single planet and taking care of it's well being. In order to be a Kami, you had to challenge the old Kami and he would approve you for the position. You do not have to be part of a specific race to become a Kami, but your heart must be pure good.
A note on Lord Enma:
Lord Enma is the King of a species known as the Oni that live in the Afterlife. He is in charge of deciding whether a soul goes to Heaven or Hell. He is not a god, so is excluded from the flow chart, but is part of the Afterlife Heirarchy so I decided to put him down.
This flow chart explain's what revelance each god had to the other's.

Locations:
Below you will find descriptions of the various locations in heaven.
Kaio Planet

Goku finds that King Kaio lives on a very small planet with high gravity. This is not uncommon. Each Kaio from each galaxy possesses a small planetoid that they live on. Whether they all have the same structures as the one to the left is a mystery.
King Kaio's planet has a living quarters, a garage for his car, a water well, a small bench, and a tiny road that circles around the planet.
Dai Kaio Planet

Dai Kaio's planet is 10 times larger than the Kaio planets. It is located high above heaven. Since he is the high Kaio, his planet is much more classier. It consists of four roads, a mansion, and a perimiter wall around the mansion.
This is where the "other world" martial arts tournament is held. Inside of Dai Kaio's mansion is a very large room set up as if the whole room were drifting in space. The tournament floor appears to be on a giant asteroid. Fighters from all four galaxies gather at this planet in hopes of winning the grand prize; a free lesson from the Dai Kaio himself.
Princess Snake's Lair

On his way to King Kaioh's Planet, Goku runs accross a large castle which he mistakes as King Kaioh's place. He approaches the castle and is sucked into a large snake's mouth.
There, Goku meets Princess Snake. Goku thinks she is King Kaioh so he stays with her. Snake feeds Goku, bathes him, and pampers him. Goku think this is all part of King Kaioh's training.
Princess Snake's pampering is just a disguise however. In truth, she and her minions are actually giant snakes. Goku soon learns of their true nature and tries to escape. The Princess transforms and gives chase to Goku. Goku outsmarts Snake in the end by flying aound in loops, tieing Snake in
Kaioshin Planet
During the battle with Fat Buu, Gohan becomes seriously injured and Kibit transports him to Kaioshin Kai to train. The planet is located in the far reaches of Heaven and is much more durable than Earth. The Zed Sword was located here, and Gohan succeeds in pulling it out. Later, when the Sword breaks, Rou Dai Kaioshin appears and trains Gohan.
After Gohan goes back to Earth to fight Super Buu, Goku stays behind on the planet. Eventually, Rou Dai Kaioshin gives Goku his life so Goku transports to Earth to help Gohan fight. After Super Buu is defeated by Vegetto, he spits out Fat Buu and becomes Kid Buu. Kid Buu wastes no time in destroying planet Earth, but Goku and Kibit transport Vegeta and Mr. Satan back to Kaioshin Kai. Buu soon follows them and the battle continues on the planet. Buu is unable to destroy this planet because it is so strong. Eventually, Buu is defeated and the Earth is wished back.
Snake Way

In order to reach King Kaioh's planet, King Emma points Goku towards Snake Way. Snake Way is a long winding road that stretches from King Emma's check in station to King Kaioh's planet. It is said to be 1 million Kilometers long.
Snake way has tiny scales that run the whole distance of Snake Way along both sides of it's back. These scales are very sharp and will cut you very easily.
At the start of Snake Way, there is a large head of a serpeant. At the end of Snake Way is a fish-like tail.
King Emma's Check-in Station
Once Goku dies in the fight against Raditz, Kami escorts Goku's soul to a large building with the word "Welcome" accross the front. There he meets King Emma (Lord Emma). King Emma is incharge of deciding which spirits go to Heaven, and which go to Hell.
This building that King Emma resides in, is commonly reffered to as the "Checkpoint Station." Everyone who dies has to face King Emma. If they should live forever in bliss or agony is up to him.
This building is usually the first place to be seen by new arrivals.
King Emma granted Goku permission to travel down Snake Way in order to locate King Kaioh. There, he would train for the arrival of the Saiyans on Earth.
