Biographies-Goten
Goten was born a few months after the Cell Saga when Goku died. Since goku was dead, he was solely raised by Chi Chi and Gohan. He learned his martial arts from his mother and fighting with Trunks, his best friend. Trunks was learning from Vegeta, so Goten got a mixture of styles from both Chi-Chi and Vegeta.
Growing up without a father was hard on Goten. His older brother Gohan only studied and never trained. Despite this, he secretly learned martial arts from his mother Chi-Chi. A lot of his training consisted of fighting his best friend Trunks. Goten was a very powerful young child, being able to go Super Saiya-jin by the age of seven.
When Goku told Gohan that he would be coming back to Earth to the upcoming Budoukai, Gohan decided to enter and fight to win the money. Since he hadn't trained in a while, Gohan asked Goten to help him train. They started out training reflexes. Gohan piled a bunch of rocks in a pile and asked Goten to throw them at him. Goten picked up a stone and threw it, but Gohan was not expecting it to come so fast and barely dodged even in his Super Saiya-jin form. Because of Goten's speed, Gohan moved him way back and then had him throw some more stones. After a while, Goten asked Gohan if he could "change like him." Not knowing that Goten could do it, he told him it was too advanced. To his amazement, Goten then transformed into a Super Saiya-jin. Gohan asked Goten if he wanted to spar and Goten agreed. They began to spar and it was an amazing battle until Gohan flew up into the air. Goten yelled at him that it wasn't fair because he couldn't fly. Gohan thought it was amazing that Goten could turn Super Saiya-jin and couldn't fly.
A few minutes later, Videl showed up at Gohan's house. Since Gohan had promised to teach Videl the art of Buku-Jutsu (flying), he decided to teach Goten as well. Goten learned very quickly and continued to train with Gohan until the day of the Budoukai.
When the day of the tournament arrived, Goten was shy when he first saw Goku. After Chi-Chi told Goten that Goku was his father, Goten gave him a big hug. Later, Goten finds out that he and Trunks have to fight in the children's division instead of with the adults. Goten says that if he wins he will buy candy and toys.
Later that day, Goten finally faces off against his first opponent: Ikose. He easily makes quick work of Ikose, as well as all his other opponents. Trunks does the same and the two boys face off against each other in the finals.
The battle between the two heated up quickly. Everyone in the crowd was amazed at the fight. Beforehand, they had both agreed not to turn Super Saiya-jin, but they both did during the fight. Goten ended up accidently touching out of bounds and losing, but Trunks promised to give him some toys so Goten was happy.
After Trunks beat Satan in the final battle, he had a great idea to compete in the adult round so him and Goten could have some real competition. They found a fighter that worse a costume known as Mighty Mask, knocked him out and stole his costume. In order for both of them to be able to fight, Goten had to hold Trunks on his shoulders. They fight through a couple of competitors, but since Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, and everyone else left to find Majin Buu, Goten and Trunks face off against Android #18 in the final match. After a short while, she caught on to what the boys were doing and shot a ki blast straight at them. To dodge, Trunks went right and Goten went left. This caused their cover to be blown and 18 won the competition.
Trunks and Goten didn't take defeat well but decided to follow after their fathers to fight Majin Buu. They didn't arrive on the scene until Majin Buu had already been released and Vegeta was fighting him. They hid in the rocks with Piccolo until it looked to Trunks like Vegeta was about to be killed. The boys intervened and saved Vegeta, but when Vegeta woke up he knocked them both out.
After Vegeta died from honor, Piccolo carried Goten and Trunks back to Kami's palace where they rested. When they woke up the next day, Goku was there to teach them the Natamoru Fusion Dance. The two boys practiced for days even after Goku left, and finally succeeded in fusing into Gotenks. After this, Goten as an individual doesn't play much of a role in the rest of the Buu fight except for giving Goku his energy for the Genki Dama at the end.
Ten years later, Goten is a growing teenage boy. Toriyama began drawing his hair short as to not look as much like Goku. The next Tenkaichi Budoukai is coming up and Goku tells Goten that he has to compete. Goten trains with Goku but is worn out easily, showing that he hadn't been training much. He had been more focused on girls over the years.
When the day of the tournament comes, Goten is up to fight Buu first. He complains, but Goku tells him that he should have been training instead of focusing on girls. If he had, he could easily beat Buu by now. This is where Z ends for Goten, because we don't get to see him fight Buu.
Several years later in GT, Goten is still the same way as before: only focused on girlfriends. When Baby comes, he isn't strong enough to fight him off and gets taken captive. He only plays several minor roles throughout GT that aren't really worth mentioning.

KameKameha: This is really just a KameHameHa, but during the budoukai Goten yells KameKameHa when firing the blast. ^_^;
Zanzoken: The user can move so fast he leaves an after-image, while attacking from another standpoint.
Did you know?
- Because Goten was a spitting image of Goku, Toriyama drew the older Goten with short hair so fan's could tell the difference.
